We build the engines
behind great products
Engine Room is a development studio that engineers ambitious software from the ground up. We're the team credited with building Pheno and Fluffernutter.

The room where products get built
We take ideas with technical weight and turn them into software that ships, holds up, and grows.
Product engineering
From a blank repo to a shipped product — architecture, build and the unglamorous wiring that holds it together.
Hard problems
The systems work most teams avoid: real-time data, performance budgets, and the engine beneath the interface.
Built to scale
Foundations that hold under load. We engineer for the version of the product that has users, not just demos.
End to end
Design, frontend, backend and infra under one roof — fewer hand-offs, tighter feedback, faster shipping.
Engineered by Engine Room
Pheno
Pheno turns Horse Reality's raw genotype strings into instant, in-context breeding decisions: foal-colour odds, lethal-gene alerts, discipline potential and market value. One exhaustively-tested genetics engine, shared across a Manifest V3 Chrome extension and a Next.js web app.
Fluffernutter
Cadbury and Caramilk hop, graze, nap, and do midnight zoomies in a cozy bedroom that tracks the real time of day — and keeps living even when the app is closed. You keep the hay topped up and the litter fresh; they handle the rest. Every bunny, plank, and drifting cloud is drawn from code as pixel art — not a single image file in the project.
Residential Quails Inc
You've moved into a new city, you're in need of a companion and an extra revenue stream. Welcome to Residential Quails Inc, where you play as a young professional working from home and trying to run a quail farm from your apartment balcony on the side. Tend to your quails, sell their eggs to buy better work-from-home setups, and keep those quails out of trouble!
